Mom’s Call to Ministry
“My mom taught us how to be self-reliant and supportive to the less fortunate. She found time to help others even when she herself had her own life struggles.”
“My mom is the best mom in the world!” I can honestly say that. At the same time, I am aware that I am not the only one saying this about their moms. That’s why I totally agree that one’s mother is the best woman on earth. Mine is, too.
My mom taught us how to be self-reliant and supportive to the less fortunate. She found time to help others even when she herself had her own life struggles. She traveled by land from our far-flung province to the capital city and vice-versa every harvest season just to share some of the crops she reaped with our relatives. She covered more than a hundred miles each way.
She instilled in us the core value of helping others from the moment we could understand the distinction between right and wrong. It has served as our guiding light throughout the years and has brought us a sense of purpose and self-worth.
All the life lessons she taught me made me what I am today. I owe her all my successes and milestones.
Though a part of me was lost when my mom passed away (and still is), I know that the missing piece is in heaven with her. When my time comes and I finally meet her again, that part of my being will return to me and I will be whole again.
No one will ever forget a mother’s unconditional love. In fact, who can? You won’t, I won’t.
I wish my mom can continue to feel my love for her even now that she’s with our creator, our Lord above. I love you, Mom!
